Now reading: law books
From Crime to Punishment: Third Edition.
Joel E. Pink & David C. Perrier. eds.
Criminal Law: Second Edition (Essentials of Canadian Law series)
Kent Roach
I'm researching courtroom procedure for that big climax to my YA novel. I'm a little torn between using Canadian law and procedures or something more generic. It is a future dystopia in which people's ordinary rights have ceased to exist. At the very least, I like to begin from where things stand now, Charter of Rights and Freedoms and all.
Wish me good luck.
I also just finished The In-Between World of Vikram Lall. I won't bore you with my impressions except to say it richly deserved the Giller Prize. There are lots of reviews out there, written by people who know their African history so I'll just make a recommendation. It's brilliant. Do yourself a favour and read it.
Happy reading.Labels: Canadian, Literature
