I attended Ad Astra for the second time this year. ChiZine had a book launch there and I got an autographed copy of Chimerascope by Douglas Smith. He's a friend of a friend but it was the excerpt he read which convinced me to buy it. So far, it's a very interesting read. That's why I thought I'd point out his glowing review in Quill & Quire.
I'm happy for Doug and the good press he's getting. I've met him at a couple of SF conventions now and he is very down-to-earth and nice. His writing, which spans SF, Fantasy and Horror, is not 'nice,' thank goodness. Who wants 'nice,' in fiction?
