Toronto Hispano Magazine

Disclaimer: I do not claim to be impartial about this magazine. I know and admire Rene Garcia and Kelly delaflor, the founders of http://www.torontohispano.com/.

That said, their site ably fills its niche in the Toronto publishing scene. It's the best-known and longest running site of its kind in Toronto, complete with radio station, entertainment listings... y mucho, mucho mas.

The latest issue of torontohispano magazine is out. I was one of the very first people to get their hands on the October/November issue, certainly the first of those who read it with a Spanish dictionary. That said, I'm not the only one. There are English and Spanish letters from readers in the feedback section,"Expresate."

The magazine is available for free in Latino stores, clubs and neighborhoods. You can also subscribe online at the website.

If you are interested in local latin entertainment, fashion, photos, cultural events, religious advice, cooking and commentary on international latin entertainment, this is your magazine.

If your Spanish is excellent, they support a creative writing contest for latinos and latinas living in Canada called "Nuestra Palabra."

The 27th Annual Festival of Authors

The 27th Annual Festival of Authors runs October 18-28. I just downloaded 13 pages of visiting author biographies so you're sure to find a must-see discussion, reading or talk. For more information, explore their website:
